EMBRYOSAFARI is created and managed by Dr. Kalin Narov.

Kalin grew up in the countryside of North Eastern Bulgaria, where he spent his childhood reading about animals and observing anurans, squamates and arthropods in the lush valley of the Rusenski Lom river, flowing near his home. These experiences and environment induced in him an overwhelming interest and aesthetic appreciation of living things.

Hence, Kalin's educational path was no surprise. After graduating from Baba Tonka High School (focusing on Biology and Chemistry), Kalin spent the next four years studying molecular biology at Sofia University. There, he became enthralled by organism development. Consequently, he took another four years investigating gene expression in mouse, chicken and zebrafish embryos at The University of Sheffield and IMCB Singapore, culminating in his Ph.D. thesis on embryonic gene regulation.

During all these years, Kalin had cultivated an avid fascination with human, comparative and developmental anatomy, cell biology, and genetics. He hopes his scientific art could help researchers and medical practitioners to communicate their work more effectively, as well as students and anyone else curious about how nature constructs bodies, in health and disease.

Therefore, Dr. Narov would be glad to receive ideas for collaboration or scientific illustration/animation commissions from interested parties.
